How safe is the mask you used regularly?

When you buy a skincare product, you probably assume it’s actually going to care for your skin. Since the word is right in the title and everything. But assuming is never a good idea – especially when it comes to something as important as your skin.

According to some recent reports, the health agency of Hong Kong has uncovered a pretty scary level of preservatives in some very popular brands of skin care, including a lot of other brands you might be using.

This was especially true when it came to sheet masks. The health agency said that the level of preservatives found was higher than normal, and while they found no evidence that this had actually harmed anyone’s skin in a serious way, they actually issued a warning!
So here it is, straight from the health agency :
“Do not place mask on face for more than 10 minutes as the preservatives will cause dehydration on skin. In worse case, it might cause inflammation and rashes."

Inflammation and rashes? That’s not the reason you buy a skincare product!

The health agency also asked the brands in question to put an expiry date on their sheet mask products to prevent any mishap.

We know you have heaps of choices when it comes to buying a sheet mask. Some are really inexpensive, some come with a lot of hype talking about the amazing “beauty secrets” they offer. But hype is one thing. Safety is another. And when we believe the hype, we could actually be risking the health of our skin.
